4 rules of a successful life

Hello Everyone

You guys must have heard of reddit website, if not, you live under the rock hahaha. I always check posts in get disciplined and get motivated section of reddit. Few days ago, I came across this awesome reply in the thread. It was by a username Ryan. These are his words and I have no ownership to any of the rules but I seriously think that if you follow these four rules, you will have better tomorrow. I have started to apply these in my life as of today:

Rule #1 : No "zero" day - It is as simple as it sounds yet the hardest of all. If you want to accomplish anything in life, make sure you do 1 thing to come closer to your goal. Want to start eating healthy? Add a fruit to your snack and some veggies as a side. Want to start exercising ? Just start with 1 pushup a day. Yes, ONE ! It is all in mindset. If you are putting in an effort to do 1 pushup, I can bet you dollars you will not quit until unless you have done 4 or 5.

Rule #2 : Be grateful to 3 yous - Past you, present you and future you. Be thankful to past you for who you are today. Be thankful to present you for doing 1 pushup. Say thank you present me for working for future me. Thank future me all the time :) Love yourself and respect yourself for who you are.

Rule #3: Forgive - Again very single but takes a lot of courage. I have had days when I struggle like now a days when I hate my being and I hate myself. It is so wrong  ! Embrace yourself and if you do not like what you are today, forgive your past and be polite to yourself and make promise to future you that your present yourself will make it better. Didn't go to gym today? That's ok ! Forgive yourself but at the same time do not lose your momentum for discipline and promise your future self that you will tomorrow.

Rule #4: Exercise and read - Every one of us know for a fact that these are the two things that can make you the person you want to be in life. Yet, in the rat race of life, we ignore both! Please exercise and read again not for hours …. remember rule #1 - no zero day :)

Hope you find these 4 rules just as useful as I did and thank you Ryan for introducing us to the wonderful and very doable rules.

YSL #11 Glossy Stain Rouge Gouache on NC42 skin.

Hey hey

So I am a very regular reader of Christine's blog ( As I was browsing through some things there this morning, I saw her post for YSL #11. I am wearing the same glossy stain today so I was curious and clicked on it. To my surprise, for the first time ever I felt how things look so different on different skin tones! It looks very red orangey on lighter skin tone.

For me, on my NC42 skin tone, it appears more pink - berry tone. Sorry for the selfie in a mirror but I am at work and this is the best I could do lol. I have purchased some very bright lipsticks from mac's new collection and I will be posting pics soon :)

Discipline .... To do, not to do, pros and cons.

Discipline ..

As per

The practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience."

Discipline I think is just as simple and easy but tremendously hard to achieve. Discipline is nothing but control of mind and thoughts. When we think about it, it seems very easy and achievable. The moment in my life (around 4 years ago ) when I decided to incorporate discipline in my life, I thought how hard it could be? I thought I will make a plan and just stick to it ! WRONG WRONG .... How wrong was I. It sounds very easy specially when others talk about their achievements. I get so pumped and always like fuck yeah !! I am no less than anyone and I am going to just be very disciplined but from tomorrow morning and be just as successful. Alas ... only if it was that easy :(

Making a new routine is not that big of a deal ! You get motivated and one day you wake up and bam !! Write a 2 page routine on a piece of paper ... Follow it for a day or sometimes a week and then start slacking. It is very easy to start slacking. In my case, sometimes I call it a break and sometimes call it a reward !!

After all these years of trial and error, I have concluded few things :

To do:
1. Take it slow
2. Make small increments ... Make routine for only 1 week
3. Take one day at a time.
4. Make your decision public. You have no idea how much it helps.
6. At the end of very day, sit back and reflect. This is one of the most important things to do if you are looking for long term success.
7. Be consistent
8. So many things in life are fun. Prioritize ... Always going for fun will get you nowhere.

Not to do :
1. Do not take a fucking break !! I don't care if it is a week day or a weekend, if you want to wake up at 6 am, you drag your ass out at 6 !!! Period !!!
2. Slacking is not a reward.
3. Do not let your success take over your thoughts/ feelings. There have been so many times when I think that I am doing uber awesome and not being disciplined for one day is ok. NO IT IS NOT !!

"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
- Jim rohn "

Cons :
Shut up !! There are no cons to it

Till next time

Thursday, 27 June 2013

It has been a while since the last post. I was struggling with life decisions. Some of very crucial decisions of my life. I will not say that it has all been sorted out but I am feeling better. Felling better because I have decided to help myself, help my body, my brain and overall be a better person.

I have been reading a lot of self help material from books, magazines, internet and I have come to a conclusion that sitting here and reading/ thinking about it is not going to change anything. I have to take 1 day  at a time and really work on things.

I want to be healthy AGAIN, happy again and also want to be one of those people that everyone around is jealous of and everyone on internet wants to be them !!

I have made a plan on piece of paper and I am ready to go with it. But I want to post and publish because I want the story of my journey printed and always with me so I can come back and have a look at it.

First and foremost thing I have to do is quit alcohol. I was social drinker back in the day or maybe I was hiding under this notion. But now, everything is out of control including my alcohol ! I have finally put my foot down and decided to go cold turkey ! It's been 3 days and I am feeling so much better ... I have joined reddit's subreddit stopdrinking and folks there are immensely supportive and help to get through cravings.

Life is not hard, our circumstances make us do things. Things that are wrong, things that are not acceptable, things that we should not be doing ! I hereby announce that hence forth, I will have full control on my life. No more binge drinking just because I WANT TO.  I will be doing a 30 day challenge with myself. Starting today :
1. No alcohol
2. Eat healthy/home cooked meals ONLY
3. 5K run every day ( which I am actually doing already but I do miss lot of days)
4. Be positive - It is very fascinating how everything around you just becomes brighter and cheerful once you make up your mind to be positive.
5. Read everyday
6. Meditate for at least 20 minutes a day

I will keep this blog posted :)

Tiffany's Haul

Hey all

So a little different post than regular here. Recently I saw this necklace in Tiffany's website and all of a sudden I had a strong feeling in my heart that I wanted it. I hope you all can relate to this feeling !!!!

So I placed an order and it was here in two days. and when I opened the package, the Tiffany's packaging was to die for ! Mind you, it was first ever order with Tiffanys ......

WIthout further adieu here is what I to got. So I got Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard pendant. Also another thing I got is a silver pendant with "J" engraved in it. I didn't order the chain to go with it (which I regret btw !). I have to got to Costco tomorrow to get a nice Sterling silver chain to go with it. Let me know if you guys like it.....
